Colossians 1:15 - “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.”

What does God look like?   When you see the trees, are you looking at God?  How about the stars, the ocean, or the animals?

Do you know the answer? Jesus said in John l4:9:  “He who has seen Me has seen the Father...”

Notice He did not say, “He who sees the trees and stars has seen God.”  Although God created the trees, plants, clouds, animals, grass stars, etc., they do not have the capacity to express His will.  They  testify that He exists, but they cannot testify of the very life of God - His character, purpose and will.

The testimony of what God looks like is only found in Jesus Christ.  The word “image” is defined as “an exact representation and revelation”.

When the woman who was caught in adultery was brought to Jesus, instead of condemning her with her accusers, he said to her, “I do not condemn you; go and sin no more.” (John 8:12)  God does not  condemn people to their past, but  gives them life with a future hope!

When the leper came to Jesus and said, “Lord, if You are willing, you can make me clean”, Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.”   (Matthew 8:2-3).  Jesus never told anyone it was not God’s will to heal them.  God’s will is not to be sick, but to be healed!!

Christianity is not the story of man reaching God, but of God reaching man! We could not go to live where God was, so God came to live with us, In Christ.

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood”.  (John 1:14 -Message Bible)

If you want to know what God looks like, just look at Jesus!
