Colossians 2:8-10 - “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”
The time that most people think about dieting is when they have just “filled up” on a big meal and their appetite is satisfied. Why does this happen? Because when you are full, you don’t want anything else. But, once you start feeling empty, it’s becomes more difficult to diet!
There are actually certain foods that will “satisfy your appetite” more than others. Foods that are high in nutrition can actually keep you from feeling empty. Other foods are called “junk food” , because they contain little or no nutrition and leave you empty, hungry and dissatisfied!
Today, it has become popular to follow philosophy and even religious tradition. But the nutrition that you receive from them is like junk food! It’s man-made, and cannot “fill you up.”
I like to look at any new religious idea through the framework of the person and work of Jesus Christ. If it does not “fill up” on these nutrients, I know it does not have God’s fullness in it . The only thing that will fill you up is the fullness of God. You were made for it and nothing else can satisfy!
Don’t drink from the polluted stream of man’s ideas, when, In Christ, you can drink from a pure fountain of everlasting life and never thirst again! (John 4:14)
