Questions and Answers

In the past conferences Cindy, Lois and Ray were not only honored but also humbled with the response from those wanting to help with the conference. Each year we have received many questions concerning this trip. So I have created this page to answer some of the questions people have. Shekinah Glory wants to help you as much as we can.

If you do not find your question answered you may email me at Shekjr@aol.com. We also have a travel agent set up to help you with ALL of your arrangements. Her name is Lynn Scott. She is with Sunbelt Travel 918 665-7500. She is very kind and will be happy to work with you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where will the conference be held?

A: Eglise Reformee de Belleville

976 rue Julien Lacroix

75020 Paris

Q: What airport do we fly into?

A: Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport - CDG Airport

Q: Is there a shuttle from the hotel to the airport?

A: Each hotel differs, however you can always get a taxi or shuttle from the airport.

Shuttle rates are about 25 Euros for one person

2-3 persons 19 Euros

4 persons 17 Euros

Q: How much money should I bring for food if they eat 3 meals a day?

A: See Ray’s Parisian Dining Guide at the bottom. If You Are Planning To Join Us From The States or Canada - READ THIS – Do remember to ask if breakfast is included in your hotel rate! A lot of times it is.

Q: How does one hotel compare to another?

A: Mostly in room size and price.  We are in the process of checking on some hotels.  Keep referring to this section frequently or email or call the office.

Q: Which hotel will SG be staying in?

A: We are checking into this right now and will have information soon.

Q: What is the dress for the meetings?

A: Business and business casual for men. Dresses, dress pants and pants suits for women.

Q: What is the weather like in Paris in November?

A: During the month of November the weather can be more on the cold side. There is always a strong possibility of rain anytime. I would suggest checking the weather online before packing and leaving.  That is what Shekinah Glory does.

Q: Do the hotel rooms have air-conditioning?

A: During November, this will not be an issue.

Q: What type of electrical equipment do I need?

A: Europe uses 220 voltages. Even if you have an appliance with dual-voltage you will need and adapter so it can fit in the European outlet, as it differs from an American outlet. If you have an appliance that is not dual-voltage you will need an adapter and a converter.

Q: Is it easy to get money exchanged in Paris?

A: Yes. There are money exchange places throughout the city.

Q: Are traveler's checks better to have or credit/debit cards?

A: Most people use their credit/debit cards. If you need cash, ATMs are very accessible. Before leaving contact your card company (debit or credit) that you are going to Europe to determine the fees and availability of funds. (Many have increased their charges for overseas purchases.)

I personally have never used traveler’s check. Ray a.k.a. “Caution Man” has always taken traveler’s checks, but has informed me he always brought them back home also.

Q: Should I exchange my money in the US or France?

A: My understanding is you always get a better rate in the location of the currency. However, you will need to come with some Euros to pay for your transportation from the airport when you arrive.

Q: Can we get a discount with the airlines if we all go together?

A: Yes, but only if you have 10 people with the same itinerary.

Q: Are meetings in the morning, afternoon and evening?

A: There are morning and evening meetings. Morning meetings start at 9:30am and Evening meetings begin at 7:30pm. There will be a luncheon on Thursday following the AM service.  Remember there is also intercessory prayer before every meeting. (Possibly a special prayer meeting on Friday afternoon.)

Q: What if I want to room with someone but do not know anyone going - how do I make those arrangements?

A: Email me and let me know your name, age, gender and phone number. We will contact you and let you know if there are others looking for a roommate too.

Do I need to speak French to be a worker?

No. There will be many translators wearing badges.  All you have to do is just ask one of them to help.  We will have them at the product table, prayer room, greeters, altar help, in the meeting room before and after services so you can fellowship with the ministers (this is extremely important).  Many of the ministers speak a little English and love it when you talk with them.

What could be the total cost for trip?

This varies depending upon your airfare from your city to Paris and which hotel you use.  We suggest calling around and getting your approximate airfare rates as well as hotels which we are in the process of checking on now and when you have those prices together then add your meals which could vary from  $25-$50 a day. Most hotels include the breakfast. There are reasonable places and we can tell you where those are.  Also, you will need Metro money for your tickets to go around Paris.

When is the worker's meeting?

There will be a meeting with workers and an afternoon set up on November 9th for everyone who is coming to help Shekinah Glory with the conference.  (Anywhere from 1PM to 5PM, this could change but we will let you know.)  Keep checking this website for further updates as to the place and exact time.  Dress for this would be casual.  If you are interested in coming to help send your name, email address and phone number so that we may have a way of contacting you.  If for some reason you cannot make the Tuesday’s workers meeting we still want you to come.  We do suggest however, coming in a day or two early so as to get acclimated to the time change however, if this is not financially possible then do what you can, just let us know.

May I attend the Minister’s Luncheon on Thursday?

This is a sponsored luncheon for the European Ministers.  However, depending upon the space available it will be opened to the US & Canadian ministers for a luncheon fee.  (Usually from 10-15 Euros.) This would be for full-time ministers.  Our workers who come and are not full-time ministers would be included lastly depending upon the space.  We will use some of you to assist and serve so just be ready for anything.   We still need to know if you are interested in joining us in case we can include you, so be sure to mark that on your registration.

Will I have time with Shekinah Glory?

Usually, the Saturday after the conference for those who stay we will go out somewhere and eat together.  We could also go to the famous Monmarte where the painters paint and go the famous cathedral that overlooks Paris. Let us know if you are going to stay. We also have times of eating together during the conference.  Every evening everyone is invited to join us.

Carrying materials and clothes to France for Shekinah

This is very important! Every year we take in extra product, equipment, books, gifts and clothes.  Let us know how much room and or weight you can help us with carrying these things for the conference.  When the time to leave gets closer, we will send you whatever it is you can carry for us.  Guys, sometimes we ask you to take a carry on with a mixer or something more sensitive.

Keep in mind you will be considered as part of Shekinah Glory for that week in the eyes of our European guest.  Let’s give them the best love and acceptance they’ve ever known.  In fact, one minister from Switzerland the moment they entered the meeting room said, “I feel like this is home.”

Ray’s Parisian Dining Guide Aka ‘Le Frugalisement Gourmet’

We have received many inquiries as to what one should budget for meals while visiting Paris. Dining is more expensive in Europe (as most things are) but one can still eat well for a reasonable price.

Virtually every hotel in France offers some sort of complimentary Breakfast, and it’s generally as good or better than what we are accustomed to in the states – probably about the same quality as a Hampton Inn. What IS different is the portion sizes – we Americans are used to ‘loading up’ at breakfast buffets, whereas in France the hotels will display ‘just enough’ food for the number of people that are staying at the hotel. This can be a good thing, however – I always lose a few pounds when I’m in Europe!

There are small restaurants and bistros every 20 feet in Paris - you’ll find that the prices of lunch and dinner meals will vary widely, but most will range from 12 to 25 Dollars. What WE generally do is have breakfast, then have one larger meal during the day, and possibly a lighter meal at night after the services. I personally have become ‘quite fond’ of the genuine French bread and numerous stinky cheeses available there, and will often have that along with fruit as a snack in the hotel room - (if you haven’t had French bread in France, you’ve never really HAD French bread…!).

There is also the fast-food option – McDonalds and other franchises are all over Europe, and again, the prices are higher but still manageable. On the plus side, we have found the quality of fast-food restaurants to be much better than in the U.S. - expect to pay about 30-40% more for your food there; 8-10 dollars will buy a satisfying fast-food lunch.

We have said for many years that it’s difficult to get bad meal in France – they set the bar pretty high!
