FRIDAY'S DEVOTION

II Corinthians 4:6 - “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

If you’ve ever been in a pitch-black room, you know it is impossible to see anything.   The room could be filled with everything you need,  or it could be totally empty, but in the darkness, it looks the same.  If you are looking for your shoes, you’re probably not going to find them, unless you turn on the light.  It’s not that your shoes are not there, it’s just that you can’t see them.

Genesis 1:2 says that, in the beginning,  there was darkness.  Genesis 1:3 tells us that God said, “Let there be light”, AND THERE WAS LIGHT.  Notice that God did not say, “It’s really dark”.  He spoke - or commanded the light to shine  out  of, or IN the darkness.

If you can just turn the light on, no matter how dark it is, things will be revealed.  You can see what you could not see.  Just like the darkness “hides” things from you, the light will help you to see.

That’s what happens when we receive Jesus as our Lord.  He turned on the light in our hearts.   When the light of Jesus switched on, the same glory from God that brought light to the world in Genesis brings God’s Glorious Light to our world.  Jesus is the “LIGHT OF THE WORLD”.  In other words,  we’re not talking about a 10 watt bulb for a banquet room -  This is like a l000 watt halogen light for your entire house!  ...NO DARKNESS ANYWHERE!

There is a way to remove the darkness.  Just SHINE THE LIGHT!
