MONDAY'S DEVOTION

Ephesians 1:19-20 ...”and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him fom the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,”...

You have just read one of the most “powerful” verses in the Bible!

Have you ever heard someone describe an event  with words that are bigger than the actual reality of what happened.  It’s called “exagerrating”.  The opposite is actually true here.  “”Exceeding greatness of His power” and “working of His mighty power” are not phrases that exagerrate.  They are, in reality,  not big enough to describe fully what God did when Jesus rose from the dead.

How much power does God have?  In this verse, there are four different words in the Greek used to describe the power of God.  First, the word “dunamis” (power) is used, as in our word for dynamite.  Next, the word “energio” (working), which gives us our word for energy; and then “kratos” (mighty), rule of the people, democratic, and “ischus” (power), - endowed power.

Dynamite has the potential to release great power, but when you light the fuse, it becomes “energio” - the potential power that is in  the dynamite works it’s way out  of the dynamite!  IN CHRIST, God made a way to release His power toward us!  We were the target He was aiming at and He didn’t miss!

The man who has been given the match that lights the dynamite has “kratos” or ruling power.  He rules because of the place He is in, that is there is “power in his position” - which is “ischus”.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ released God’s power to us because it came from the ruling throne room of God in heaven, which hell could not stop!

Who did Jesus die and rise from the dead for?  You!  Who was the target of God’s resurrection power?  You!    How much power does God have?  More than your death, your sin, and your sorrow.  The resurrection of Jesus Christ is greater than the devestation of all people.

Your never too dead for a resurrection!
