Conference Information

Paris In May is a conference hosted by Shekinah Glory Ministries. The meetings are translated from English to French and people will be joining us from all over the world.

We know we could not hold this conference yearly if it were not for the support of our partners and all of the individuals who fly over to Paris and work so diligently with us every year. We are so grateful for you if you have decided to go with us this year. However, Shekinah Glory does not make any reservations for you personally. Below is a list of questions and answers that will assist you in making your reservations.

If you do not have a travel agent and do not feel comfortable making your reservations on your own, we have a wonderful travel agent that will help you. Her name is Lynn Scott and you may contact her at Sunbelt Travel (918) 665-7500.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of this trip?
This varies depending upon your airfare from your city to Paris and which hotel you will use. We suggest calling around and getting your approximate airfare rates as well as contacting the hotels that we have listed and when you have those prices together then add your meals which could vary from $25-$50 a day. There are reasonable places and we can tell you where those are. Also, you will need money for your Metro tickets (this is like a subway) to go around Paris.

What airport do we fly into?
There are two aiports, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly.
www.paris-cdg.com

Is there a shuttle from the hotel to the airport?
Each hotel differs, however you can always get a taxi or shuttle from the airport.
Shuttle rates are about 25 Euros for one person
2-3 persons 19 Euros
4 persons 17 Euros

How much money should we bring for food if we eat 3 meals a day?
See Ray’s Parisian Dining Guide below for tips. Do remember to ask if breakfast is included in your hotel rate! A lot of times it is.

How does one hotel compare to another?
Mostly in room size and price.

Which hotel will SG be staying in?
As of right now Shekinah Glory will be staying at the Holiday Inn Republique.

What is the dress for the meetings?
Business and business casual for men and dresses, dress pants and pants suits for women.

What is the weather like in Paris in May?
During the month of May the weather can vary greatly. It can range from mid 40’s to 70’s. There is always a strong possibility of rain in May. I would suggest checking the weather online before packing and leaving.

Do the hotel rooms have air-conditioning?
Many hotels in Paris, though not all, have air conditioning. More often than not, the hotels have a 'universal' heating/cooling system, i.e. they do not provide for individual control over whether you have heat or air in your room—the hotel's system is changed appropriately at the change of seasons. Individual rooms do almost always have thermostats which control each room's temperature. Hopefully, the weather in May will either be cool enough to not need air conditioning, or warm enough that the hotels will have no choice but to switch their systems to air conditioning!

You should ask your hotel about air conditioning when making your reservations, as many hotels do not have air conditioning.

Do the hotel rooms have bathtubs, showers or a combination?
Check with your hotel directly.

What type of electrical equipment do I need?
Europe uses 220 voltages. Even if you have an appliance with dual-voltage you will need and adapter so it can fit in the European outlet, as it differs from an American outlet. If you have an appliance that is not dual-voltage you will need an adapter and a converter.

Do I need a passport?
You will need a passport for France but not a Visa

Is it easy to get money exchanged in Paris?
Yes. There are plenty of money exchange locations in the city.

Are traveler's checks better to have or credit cards?
Most people use their credit cards. If you need cash, there are ATMs that are very accessible. I personally have never used traveler’s check. Ray a.k.a. “Caution Man” has always taken traveler’s checks, but has informed me he has never actually used them while he was there. In most places you may use your debit or credit card.

Should I exchange my money in the U.S. or France?
My understanding is you always get a better rate in the location of the currency. However, you will need to come with some Euros to pay for your transportation from the airport when you arrive.

Can we get a discount with the airlines if we all go together?
Yes, but only if you have10 people with the same itinerary.

Are meetings in the morning, afternoon and evening?
There are only morning and evening meetings. Morning meetings start at 10:00am and Evening meetings begin at 7:30pm. During the afternoon many people will go sightseeing. Remember there is also intercessory prayer before every meeting.

There will be an afternoon prayer meeting on Tuesday from 2:30 to 4:00. "We are honored to be able to have an afternoon Prayer session with Patti Klaras - assistant to Lynn Hammond from Minneapolis, MN.  Patti's involement with this conference is timely for this hour, you won't want to miss."

What if I want to room with someone—how do I make those arrangements?
E-mail me and let me know your name, age, gender and phone number. If we have another person looking for a roommate we will contact you.

Worker's Meeting
There will be a meeting early Sunday evening on May 25th for everyone who is coming to help Shekinah Glory with the conference. It will be about an hour around 7:00 PM (as the date gets closer we will confirm the exact time). Keep checking this website for further updates as to the place and exact time. If you are interested in coming to help, send your name, e-mail address and phone number so that we will have a way of contacting you. If for some reason you cannot make the Sunday's worker's meeting you are still welcome to come and help. However, we do suggest coming in a day or two early so you have time get acclimated to the time change before the meetings start. If this is not financially possible we understand.

Shekinah Glory will be ministering at a church in Paris from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Sunday.

Minister’s Luncheon on Wednesday
This is a sponsored luncheon for the European Minister’s. However, depending upon the space available it will be opened to the U.S. and Canadian ministers for a luncheon fee. (Usually around $25.00) This would be for full-time ministers. Our workers who come and are not full-time ministers would be included lastly depending upon the space. We will use a few of you to assist so just be ready for anything. We still need to know if you are interested in joining us in case we can include you, so be sure to mark that on your registration.

Time with Shekinah Glory
Usually after the conference, for those who stay, we will go out and eat together. If time permits we will also go sightseeing. Let us know if you are going to stay. We also have times of eating together during the conference.

Ray’s Parisian Dining Guide Aka ‘Le Frugalisement Gourmet’

We have received many inquiries as to what one should budget for meals while visiting Paris. Dining is more expensive in Europe (as most things are) but one can still eat well for a reasonable price.

Virtually every hotel in France offers some sort of complimentary Breakfast, and it’s generally as good or better than what we are accustomed to in the states – probably about the same quality as a Hampton Inn. What IS different is the portion sizes – we Americans are used to ‘loading up’ at breakfast buffets, whereas in France the hotels will display ‘just enough’ food for the number of people that are staying at the hotel. This can be a good thing, however – I always lose a few pounds when I’m in Europe!

There are small restaurants and bistros every 20 feet in Paris - you’ll find that the prices of lunch and dinner meals will vary widely, but most will range from 12 to 25 Dollars. What WE generally do is have breakfast, then have one larger meal during the day, and possibly a lighter meal at night after the services. I personally have become ‘quite fond’ of the genuine French bread and numerous stinky cheeses available there, and will often have that along with fruit as a snack in the hotel room - (if you haven’t had French bread in France, you’ve never really HAD French bread…!).

There is also the fast-food option – McDonalds and other franchises are all over Europe, and again, the prices are higher but still manageable. On the plus side, we have found the quality of fast-food restaurants to be much better than in the U.S. - expect to pay about 30-40% more for your food there; 8-10 dollars will buy a satisfying fast-food lunch.

We have said for many years that it’s difficult to get bad meal in France – they set the bar pretty high!
