Colossians 1:12-13 “Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love”
There is a television show that broadcasts the names and faces of people who have committed crimes, but have somehow escaped prosecution. They will give you their last known residence and ask anyone who has seen this person to please call in and give them information that will help in the arrest of this person.
I have seen stories where authorities have gone into foreign countries, in some little isolated place and found a person who was hiding out. Once, I heard them talking to one of these guys and he was actually “relieved” to finally get caught. He said he was so tired of having to hide all the time, living in fear of being arrested. He talked about not being able to walk down the street and talk to people, thinking they might recognize him as a fugitive.
Thank God, In Christ, we are not a “fugitive”, running from the sins of our past, hoping to not be discovered! We have a real freedom that cannot be taken away! We are not “disqualified” for this, we are “qualified” by God, In Christ!
We don’t have to live in fear of being “caught”. We have a permanent release from all the powers of hell against us!
And, last of all, there is no broadcast of our face before God for our past failures. We have a new life, in a new place; taken out of the rule of Satan’s world, placed into the rule of God’s grace and mercy where we are forgiven and free! Every debt of sin has been paid and all the files on our old life have been nailed to the cross of Jesus Christ, where they were buried in His death, never to rise again. The resurrection of Jesus was the evidence that a new life of freedom had begun!
