April Partner Letter 2016
Dear Partner,
Wow! It’s this month that we begin our 39th year of ministry! We are so thankful to God – and to you! You have made it possible for us to continue to go into all the world, telling the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all we can – through music, through ministry, and all through the power of the living word of God and the Holy Spirit!
…”Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, There is a greater blessing in giving than in getting.” (Acts 20:35)
The following is a powerful story that illustrates that truth…
Originally from France, Francine Christophe and her mother were deported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany during World War II. She was only 8 years old. Her mother had packed for her two small pieces of chocolate, telling her to save it for when she really needed the strength to carry on.
One day a prisoner named Helene went into labor. Christophe’s mother asked her young daughter if she would mind sharing her piece of chocolate with Helene. “Giving birth here will be hard,” her mother told her. “She may die. But If I give her your chocolate, it may help her.”
Christophe gave her chocolate to Helene on that day and, with the help of a little piece of chocolate, she was able to give birth. Six months later, they would be freed from the camp – along with the mother and her little baby.
Several years later, as a grown woman, Christophe gave a lecture as a survivor and told the story of giving her chocolate to a fellow prisoner to help her when she was giving birth. Afterwards, a woman came to the podium wanting to give something to Christophe on stage.
The woman came up and placed a piece of chocolate in Christophe’s hand and said, “I am the baby.”
When I read this story, I thought of the countless sacrificial gifts that have been given in order that ‘prisoners of darkness’ could be set free. As surely as that little baby lived because of the giving of a young girl’s treasured piece of chocolate, heaven will be full of those who have been liberated because of you! Thank you, dear friend…!
It will be worth it all… when we see Jesus!!
Forever Grateful,
Cindy, Lois and Ray
