November Partner Letter 2016

Dear Partner,

Many Christians estimate difficulty in the light of their own resources, and thus they attempt very little. All God’s giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on His power and presence with them.” (Hudson Taylor, missionary to China and founder of the China Inland Mission.)

Kenneth E. Hagin was once introduced as a “great man”.  I remember him rising to the platform and saying, “I’m not a great man – I’m just a man with a Great God”!  Great Faith is a result of knowing a Great God.  Each of us must see beyond the trouble, difficulty, and discouragement that life can bring in order to live in the greatness of God’s work.  A great example of this is found when the angel of the Lord came to Gideon and called him “a mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12). Gideon had been living as anything but a mighty warrior, his life defined by his problem instead of by God’s promise.  But as he became aware of God’s greater power and presence, he learned that God’s strength was greater than his weakness.  That’s how Gideon could do such a great work – He began to live in the awareness of the great God who was doing His work through him.  (Joshua 6:14).

I’ll never forget what happened when I was once preparing to go on a very long trip that was quite a challenge for me.  I heard the Holy Spirit on the inside say,  “It’s only as you are doing what God tells you to do that you become what God wants you to be”.  I was so strengthened and encouraged!

I want to encourage you to let God do His work through you, As Hudson Taylor wrote,  “I used to ask God to help me. Then I asked if I might help Him. I ended up by asking Him to do His work through me.”   In Hebrews, we read this:

“By faith they …received what God had promised them.  Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.”  (Heb. 11:33-34)

What great and wonderful days we are living in!  The power and presence of God is becoming known as people everywhere make a fresh commitment to let God do His work through them.

We are so thankful for your generous gifts that continue to help us as we go into all the world and do the work of God.  Together, it is our heart’s cry …”God, do your great work through us”!

Jesus is coming soon!
