May Partner Letter

Dear Partner,
…”I haven’t felt the Spirit of the Lord in years.  I was born and raised in the church, but I’ve lived a hard life & I haven’t felt the power of God in years. My mother actually strong-armed me into coming here tonight.  It’s like what I felt when I was a kid!  The message touched my soul – It’s new to me again!”

Those were the words of a man in his 40s who came to the altar during a service this month in North Carolina.  The power of God came over him and he experienced, for the first time in years, God’s amazing grace and mercy – Glory!  Friends, there is a plan from heaven – an unstoppable, undefeatable plan that brings people to repentance and causes all of hell to tremble.  The call goes out in this hour – come back to God!  We are seeing people being restored and revived even in this day when evil, devilish works seem to be on the increase.  History shows us that societies are often at their worst right before revival.  The deeper the darkness, the brighter the light will shine…!

When Revival hit London through the preaching of John Wesley in the 1700s, one out every seven houses in London was a house of prostitution.  More people attended séances than went to church.  The London times had not mentioned Christmas for decades…not even once.  In 1804, not one student at Yale University was a professing Christian. The Church was viewed by many as irrelevant and meaningless – a mere vestige of an older order.  Society in the early 20th century was far more reprobate and unbelieving than today.  Because of the influence of Darwinism and Marxism, scientists declared the ‘Age of Reason’ and solemnly assured us that religion would be gone by the 1920s.

Yet, in the midst of such spiritual darkness, God caused the light of Jesus Christ to shine.  Over the next century, a series of revivals, renewals and awakenings came upon the world in a series of waves – reforming and re-energizing the church and transforming society.  Slavery was abolished.  The ignorant were provided opportunities to be educated.  Women were liberated and allowed to vote.  Programs were instituted to lift the poor out of destitution.  These changes all find their roots in a mighty move of God’s Spirit through His Church.  God’s answer for the world today is found in Acts 2;  “I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh”.  People are   hungry for the supernatural, and we have the power of God that raised Christ from the dead to confirm the Word of God preached.  You’re never too dead for a resurrection!

Jesus is not returning for a barely ‘hanging-in-there’, backslid church, but rather a powerful, glorious church.  The greatest move of God the world has ever seen is our destiny.  The best is yet to come!

“Keep up your courage; for the coming of the Lord is now close at hand.” (James 5:8)
